Trapped Roborovski. The hamster was bitten in her left hind leg when
re-introduced into the cage with another hamster. She tried to escape
while warded at Toa Payoh Vets. Her head was trapped. She was saved and
given a smaller crate with narrower gaps between bars. Hamsters always try
to escape and they have all the time in the world planning their escapes.

Corneal deposits inside the cornea. The reason for the deposits is
unknown. Very rare case. Occur in people and dogs too. More research may
need to be done.

The daughter's hamster has sudden big lump near left ear. A fat
tumour, probably malignant, grows large over 5 days, was excised. No
complaint after surgery and the hamster is presumed to be OK.

Some owners misconstrued advices on anaesthetic risks as
incompetence of the vet. More time must be spent to
educate the owner as not every hamster anaesthesia is
guaranteed to produce a hamster alive at the end of surgery.

Consult Your Vet when hamsters feel
slightly itchy. It is much easier to treat itchy skin when the area
involved is a small area. Left untreated, this hamster will be
bald and red all over the body in a month or two and will die.
